Add One More... New Baby Makes Four

I've tried on two occasions to post photos from this past week and do a few blog entries. Apparently Blogger doesn't like to work with me at 8p.m. on a weekend. Anyone else having issues with posting photos??? Anyhoo - I thought I'd come out and say it-- we've got another addition on the way!

Due date appears to be June 30, 1 month after Justin graduates law school and a few weeks before the CA Bar Exam. Jackson just turned ONE on Saturday and already he's going to be a big brother!

So pretty soon, when you spot Justin and I, we'll look like this...

Keeping up with the ... Joneses

We love visits to Watsonville where Aunt Heather and Gang welcome us for Sunday dinners and other various get- togethers. They are the nearest family we have down here, and we enjoy our frequent visits. Lately its all about getting dinner on and then playing "Settlers of Kattan" (Is anyone else's husband addicted to this game?) (Is there a 12-Step Program perhaps?). We love the Joneses. AND.... they are expecting a new addition to their family in about 7 months! We couldn't be happier for them :O)

Nanny Diaries

An intentionally electic collection of photos awaits you in this post. I have been a full-time nanny for my little charge, who is 2 weeks younger than Jackson, for 6 months now. We started in late-April and I couldn't be luckier to have employment where I can bring Jackson and we can all just play and be "normal" during the day.

I won't share the identity of the family I work for, but they are extremely kind, easy to get along with and fun to be around. My little lady has two very involved parents who are also flexible and willing to go along with my ideas. We go to 2 park groups each week, to the Mall, walking around the neighborhood. I've taken them with me to library storytime, to the grocery store, to meet my friends who have kids. Its been really nice. The little gal I watch is a real hoot, full of smiles and playfulness, a really great companion for Jackson.

The first months were harder as they both needed me more. Jackson was a really sport about sharing "me" and would play calmly while I comforted my little gal. But it was still a circus act to figure out nap schedules of two very different kids...

Fast-forward to NOW when they are both about 11 months old... their exactness in age sets them up so that they play nicely together during about +/- 5 hrs of my 9-hour days, and they nap for about 2+ hours and that leaves around an hour (+) a day where we are doing meals or I am supplying comfort, or otherwise using my mental and physical energy to entertain them. Right now they are crawling everywhere, under tables, over stools, getting into everything. In a month they will both turn 1, and I expect they could be walking and our days may change again. I really love it. I am in charge of my day, we can go out, stay in. Yay for nannying :O)

Our New Pad

So we moved in August and I'm so glad. Total upgrade... Moved from a 2nd story apartment to a larger, better-laid-out, easier 'ground entry' duplex with LDS neighbors who share it with us. Talk about a rare find. We have a spacious frontyard and backyard. A garden with roses, tomatoes and strawberries so far -- and plans to expand. Yard maintenance and water are included in the rent, so that makes having a yard - a breeze! Yes! We love having beige carpet again, except of course -- its time to clean them already... I guess thats the price you pay for the beige stuff.

We had a garage before that was separated from our unit and now our garage is off the kitchen and is more insulated so I can keep pretty much anything from extra food, to Jackson's baby clothes, with out worrying about pests, etc. I am using half of the garage for all our storage and the other half for our washer/dryer, treadmill and weight bench. Now I can do my work outs while Jackson naps. Hooray :O)

So nice to have newer, prettier surroundings! I'm sure you all know what I mean. We are super happy about the change. And now I am getting busy with Fall decorating and just finished my first yard sale.

A Hallway! I have wanted a hall-way to display photo shelves, and now I have one

San Diego Weekend

We had a delightful Thurs - Sunday weekend in San Diego, after work we flew for about 1 1/2 hours, carried all our luggage on board, Jackson was great on the flight. We grabbed a rental car and headed to John and Kayley Krages home in La Mesa(?) where they were nice enough to put us up for the night.

In the morning, Kayley made great banana pancakes that we wolfed down. We drove to La Jolla (Mitt Romneys new town) and enjoyed the beach there. Very clean! Laney and Jackson made very nice playmates throughout the visit. I regret I did not take more photos of them together. Hopefully Kayley took some! After the beach we ate some delicious Rubios (my first time there) and afterwards checked out the San Diego Temple. We took naps and swam later in the day, and then we went to Justin's favorite place - Chick-filet - for dinner.

We then drove to the Hyatt Mission Bay Resort where we scoped out the hotel and hung out in the lobby for a bit. Justins parents arrived and we said goodbye to the Krages before we checked into our room.
On Saturday we drove to Coronado Island and check out the Hotel Del Coronado - famously featured in the film "Some Like It Hot". We toured all around and it was marvelous. We even put our feet in the ocean right about where Marilyn Monroe, Jack Lemmon and Tony Curtis did. It was fun. We ended the day with a nap and an evening swim in the Hyatts pool area.
